This is a great set because of its diversity. It covers any pot or pan you would need in your kitchen. And cooks great--I love making carmelized onions till they just start to brown on the perfect stainless steel.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8 Piece Set is a beautiful set of cookware. From the brushed stainless steel design to the curved handles, this set is stunning to look at. The set will blend nicely with any kitchen decor. The curved handles remain at a comfortable "burn-free" level without increasing in temperature as the food cooks. The glass covers allow for easy viewing of food without having to lift the covers off of the cookware. The stainless steel design is surprisingly light and not heavy to carry from stove to countertop. The stainless steel model is enhanced by the tri-ply performance which allows even heating for all foods. Even heating provides accurate cooking temperatures which will assist any cook in creating a delicious meal. This cookware is a great choice for families, even during these difficult economic times. I really enjoy this cookware - not only does it cook well, but its simple and clean design just makes me feel better when I'm cooking. I'm very happy cooking meals for my family on this set, especially knowing that there are no chemicals from nonstick cookware being trasferred to their food. Everything heats up quickly, and I have had success in everything I have cooked so far! The clear lids fit nicely and allow me to check on whatever it is I'm cooking without picking up the lids over and over. I have shyed away from recipes in the past that go from stove to oven, but now I don't have to with this set - hooray!

We really like this cookware for it's sturdy construction and excellent heat conduction. We have a glass electric cooktop and our previous pans didn't have flat bottoms and they wobbled on the cooktop and took a long time to heat up. These are much better! I also really like the see through lids.
I wasn't sure at first about the size of the two included sauce pans - 1.5 qt and 3 qt. I usually used a 2 qt pan for most things. But so far I've used the 1.5 qt and it has been sufficient.
What I don't like is the curved shape - especially of the stock pot. These were a gift and I'm not sure I would have chosen this design. They seem to function well and clean up well but the stock pot doesn't stack well with my other ones in the cupboard!

I don't know how I got so lucky to receive an 8-piece stainless set, but I am glad I did. Up until now I've been cooking in cheap quality non-stick pans. What a difference these pans make! While I've had to adjust my cooking habits a little (no more tapping spoon on the side of the pan, no more cooking on "high," and a little more care during cleanup).....it is definitely worth it.
These pans heat quickly and perfectly evenly every time - I never have to turn my burner above medium. Not to mention, they are beautiful and ergonomically easy to handle. Also, the way the handle joins to the pan (with a Y construction) ensures that it is a very solid join but conducts little heat, so the handle remains cool.
I can't wait to try some new dishes in my new stainless set! Thank you Calphalon!

I love the Contemporary Stainless set! My old cookware was a 15 year old wedding gift and I was starting to look around for new cookware. I was used to cooking with stainless but this set holds and conducts heat so well. I am so pleased with the "look" of this set. I am enjoying the see through lids which I didn't have with my Revereware. The sizes in this set are just right for my kitchen. I got rid of everything except my colander insert which fits the stock pot.
I would give the set 5 stars but I have some concerns about staining. I 've made tea in my
sauce pans and had to scrub and soak to get the ring off the pan. Spaghetti sauce was the same.

I have always adored Calphalon products, but my previous purchases have always been nonstick. These are my first stainless pans, so perhaps I am just in need of some kind of specialty washing tools or cleaners, but after one use, some of these pans look dreadful, with a brown sheen on the bottom of the pans that won't come off.
On the plus side, though, these pans have cooked beautifully. I've made scrambled eggs, sauteed chicken breasts, cooked pasta and pasta sauce, and I've been pleased with how quickly the pans heated up and how well they distributed heat. I just wish they cleaned up a little better!

My husband and I have tried several dishes with our new set, starting with the skillets and are very impressed. He took a picture of the complete set on our stovetop because it looked so good!
When the pans arrived, we had just gotten a delivery of fresh locally grown food and we used it to make hamburgers out of bison meat with crushed garlic, topped with pepper & rosemary goat cheese, grilled spring onions and romaine lettuce. The next day, he made omelettes and we liked how evenly the eggs cooked and how easily they released from the pan.
I was afraid that since these pans are not coated that they might be hard to clean and certain foods would stick, but the opposite is true, to my delight! We were also pleased with the cool-touch handles. How convenient and safe!
We are genuinely excited about using the skillets and trying the other items in the set.

I have been a dedicated Calphalon fanfor more than 25 years, having grown up with it and then becoming an exclusive owner of Calphalon cookware since registering for and receiving many pieces when I got married. Up until recently, we had just 4 pots and pans from the Anodized line and a wok from the Nonstick line but used these for all of our cooking needs. When we received the Contemporary Stainless set as a gift recently, we promptly put our other cookware into storage and began using these exclusively. We do not have an all SS kitchen but if we did, this set would be a beauty. HOWEVER, looks aren't everything. Here are the pros and cons we've discovered so far-- CONS: cumbersome to store, do not stack or nestle easily together; handle on glass lids get very hot during cooking; food sticks even with use of oil or cooking spray; handles feel less comfortable than Anodized set and of slightly lower quality. PROS: attractive, sleek, contemporary; heats quickly; seems to cook evenly; can go straight from stove-top to oven; cleans up easily (even with very stuck on food); love the ability to view food through glass covers. In short, I would be hesitant to recommend this line to a friend but will continue to be a loyal and devoted Calphalon family. Perhaps we just have to adjust our cooking style as we learn the different facets of the Calphalon family.

We have used both omelet pans that came with the cookware set and liked how both of them cooked our food.
The pans fit the burner size of our glasstop oven perfectly and the heating seems to be easier to control than the previous pabs we use.
We look forward to trying out the rest of the cookware set.
As I replace other cookware pieces, I will be sure to check out this brand as a favorite.

This set has the most useful items in it. Larger sets are nice, but if you're looking just for your kitchen "workhorses," this is the set to get! Also, the stainless gets a great sear and is easy to clean with simple cleansers like Bon Ami.

I love this cookware set. With two beautiful pots for everyday cooking, two pans, and a stock pot, what else do you need?
The design and look of this cookware is lovely. It actually makes my kitchen look better! To add to that, the quality is superior to any other cookware I've used.
I LOVE the see through lids - makes cooking a breeze.

Things I love about the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 8 Pieces Set:
1. Perfect size. Allows me to make quick and easy meals with serving sizes for 4-6.
2. LOVE the clear lids. So much easier to check status of sauces and simmering meals. I wish all my lids were like these.
3. Easily fit into oven.
4. Heat up ridiculously fast on a low heat setting.
5. Fancy, sleek, contemporary design.

I love this set! It is very stylish and sleek. I got these as a gift and have not had a chance to use all of the pieces. The pieces I have used I like a lot. They are easy to clean too.
